United State Auto Club: Fifty Years of Speed and Glory
90 minute DVD

In 1956, automobile racing in America suffered a crippling blow when the American Automobile Association, also known as „Triple AAA,‰ stepped aside from its sanctioning duties to concentrate on the growing needs of the motoring public.

Out of necessity, a group of racing participants formed the United States Auto Club, using the now popular and successful acronym, USAC, to take over AAA‚s duties.

From its inception and first event at the Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Wayne, Ind. on January 8, 1956, a 50-year circle of history has evolved, as the season ending event on December 30, 2005, was fittingly, and appropriately, held at the same Ft. Wayne, Ind., indoor facility.

USAC has conducted more than 7,000 events during the 50-period,  ranging from Champ and Indy Cars, to Sprints, Midgets, Stocks, Sports Cars and other exciting forms of motorsports.

The greatest of the great USAC drivers, from A-Z, are featured in this 90-minute DVD, including past champions Mario Andretti, Gary Bettenhausen, Larry Dickson, A.J. Foyt, Jim Hurtubise, Parnelli Jones, Johnny Rutherford, the Unser Brothers, and Rodger Ward, to modern-day hero‚s Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and newly crowned 2005 champions, Levi Jones, Dave Steele and Josh Wise.

You‚ll view these brave and talented drivers as they battle at world famous tracks like the haloed-grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the super-fast, high-banked Daytona International Speedway, to the rough and tumble 1-mile dirt tracks of Langhorne, DuQuoin and Springfield, the high-banks of Winchester, the bull-rings of Ventura, CA, indoor  venues at the Indianapolis Speedrome, road courses at Riverside Raceway and Mid-Ohio, and the dangerous, nerve-racking Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

The DVD chronologically details the 50-year history with still photos, motion picture footage and interviews with the hero‚s who contributed to the success of the United States Auto Club.
